Powered Wheelchair Control : Human – Machine System Modelling
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of this work is to model the pilotvehicle system made up of a person with disability and of an electric wheelchair. This modelling must induce an objective analysis method of the pilot-wheelchair couple in order to help to personalize the parameters of the vehicle on the one hand and to evaluate the interest of new functionalities on the other hand. After a review of the literature, we detail some experimental results to illustrate our matter.

Control of Electric Wheelchair Suspension System based on Biodynamic Response of Seated Human Body
Electric wheelchair is one of the equipment to be used by the incapacitated and disable people. Constant exposure to vibration affects human comfort and health. Reducing the vibrations transmitted to the human body is important in the electric wheelchair design and becomes a healthcare industry demand. This paper deals with the study on vibration control of the electric wheelchair suspension sy...
متن کاملA Driving Behaviour Model of Electrical Wheelchair Users
In spite of the presence of powered wheelchairs, some of the users still experience steering challenges and manoeuvring difficulties that limit their capacity of navigating effectively. For such users, steering support and assistive systems may be very necessary. To appreciate the assistance, there is need that the assistive control is adaptable to the user's steering behaviour. This paper cont...
متن کاملAutonomous Wheelchair for Disabled People
This paper describes the RobChair assistive navigation system. RobChair project was conceived with the aim to assist disabled people in the difficult task of manoeuvring a powered wheelchair. This paper describes the overall hardware and software architecture including the communication system; a friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) which also works as a simulator; and introduces a voice Hum...
متن کاملA hybrid human-machine interface for hands-free control of an intelligent wheelchair
This paper presents a novel hybrid human-machine interface (HMI) designed for hands-free control of electric powered wheelchairs. Both forehead electromyography (EMG) signals and colour face image information are deployed to identify winking and jaw clenching movements of human face. Five winking and jaw clenching movement patterns are selected and classified, mapping into six control commands ...
متن کاملA Flexible Bio-Signal Based HMI for Hands-Free Control of an Electric Powered Wheelchair
This paper presents a bio-signal based human machine interface (HMI) for hands-free control of an electric powered wheelchair. In this novel HMI, an Emotive EPOC sensor is deployed to detect facial expressions and head movements of users, which are then recognized and converted to four uni-modal control modes and two bi-modal control modes to operate the wheelchair. Nine facial expressions and ...
